High heels for men

When I first came across this title I couldn't help but smile to myself, as unbidden, an image came to my mind, of a six foot "mans man" tottering about in four inch red sparkly high heels.Do not try and say that you cannot help but smile when you see this image in your mind. But, we must ask ourselves, what exactly is wrong with men wearing heels?Do we not as a society pride ourselves on being open minded and non judgmental? Then how can we turn as one and object to any change to what we perceive as the norm?In my opinion it all stems from childhood. A baby is born innocent is it not?Innocent from perceptions and expectations? How then, can a child who has been present in our world for little more that a year, recognize gender differences. In most countries, gender equality is not only promoted,it is often bragged about.Yet from an exceedingly young age a small boy will wish earnestly for toy cars and a racing track whereas a little girl will yearn for a doll and pram, it is almost shocking that, in some cases gender differences are broadcast before the child is born.No mother, who knew she was expecting a girl would paint the nursery blue. Her fear of ridicule both for herself and her child for acting outside the society security blanket that is the "norm" would prevent her.It is this same attitude that is shaping the opinions and closing the minds of millions of people across the globe. But it is the one who takes the risk to break away from the crowd, who places himself under the spotlight of ridicule and condescending simpering niceties that must be admired. For these are the people history has not forgotten, and where, you might ask are the ones who smirked behind the palms of their hands? To be quite frank,I don't know and I don't care.
