Union Public Service Commission

UPSC has declared the final result of the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2006 held by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in October-November, 2006 and the interviews for Personality Test held in April-May, 2007.

A total number of 474 candidates have been recommended for appointment including 214 General (including 13 PH), 144 OBCs ( including 03 PH), 80 SCs (including 02 PH) and 36 STs.


The number of vacancies reported by the Government for the IAS is 89 (45 General, 24 OBCs, 13 SCs and 07 STs); for the IFS is 20 (10 General, 05 OBCs and 05 SCs); for the IPS is 103 (51 General, 28 OBCs, 16 SCs and 08 STs); for the Central Services Group ‘A’ is 294 (152 General, 80 OBCs, 43 SCs and 19 STs) and for Central Services Group ‘B’ is 27 (15 General, 07 OBCs, 03 SCs and 02 ST). This includes 18 vacancies for Physically Challenged candidates in the Indian Administrative Service and Central Services Group-"A"& "B".

Mr. Mutyalaraju Revu who is from Bangaluru (earlier Bangalore) has topped the examination who is currently getting the training for Indian Police Service for Andhra Pradesh cadre. 21% women candidates has been selected. In the First 10 candidates, there are 2 women candidates Anandita Mitra and Juhi Mukherji. Amit Saini of Chandigarh and Alok Tiwari of Allahabad have stood Second and Third respectively. Topper Mr. Revus is from OBC category and 18 out of top 20 candidates had English their choice for examination and remaining 2 opted for Hindi.
